Is it wrong to hope that Delgado sits tonight (or even better the weekend) due to a bruised ass thanks to Kearns literally kicking him in ass last night???
This entry is brought to you today by Austin Kearns. Without him I would have had nothing to say about last nights game. Thanks to him for giving me a brief moment of laughter just before the tears started.
Delgado was fairly hot the very first week of the season. Then it appeared that Keith and Clyde told him his beard is weird and his ‘stache is trash and it was all downhill from there.
Just sayin’.
Oh wait… that’s not right. Mets philosophy is out with the new in with the really freakin’ old. It looks like Alou could be back in the lineup this weekend. I loved Alou (when he was actually playing) last year. But that was last year. This year I love Pagan. I love to watch this kid play. I love the energy he brings to the game. Most importantly, I love the Angel wave!
This year I fear that the Alou of 2008 will be the Franco of 2007. That is a horrific thought. Someone tell me I’m crazy. I’m being overly pessimistic. I won’t believe you but you should tell me anyway.
About damn time! I thought it was never going to happen but I finally decided I coded enough of this site to make it visible to the world. There’s still going to be changes going on here and there. Things might be funky at times, for that I apologize in advance. Just remember it’s all for a good cause. Why do I feel like I’m talking to myself? Oh yeah, because no one knows TWTR Flushing exists. I guess I have to work on that, too. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a ball game to watch.
It’s Saturday afternoon. The game is on Fox today. I’m wondering why I’m still in New York and not on my way to Philly.
Update: I’d like to take a moment to revert to my 8 year old self.... I hate you Fox! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!
That is all.
I have to admit there were moments that the warm fuzzies just weren’t there last night. I could have really used them, too. The 6oz. over priced hot chocolate wasn’t really cutting it. Despite some moments of desperation* it was a fabulous game. Did you see Figgs reach behind his back to catch line drive like it was no big deal? Crazy. Even more crazy, our bullpen came through. Through SEVEN innings. That deserves a parade.
*for example: yelling at Sosa to hit a home run and actually doing the Macarena. (wow, did i actually admit that?) and telling Church to harness the power of the soul patch.
Finally the day has come. I am going to be first game this season. All sorts of warm fuzzy feelings are happening inside. Now Figueroa and the rest of the Metsies need to come through and keep the warm fuzzies coming.
Okay so last nights game was just against the Nationals but it was still a great game. Pre-game I had very little hope going into this series. Yes, the Nats are in last place and they lost 9 in a row. Yadda yadda yadda. That meant nothing to me. I was prepared to see the Mets have their asses handed to them last night.* Maybe this game seemed like more than it was because of my attitude going in but there was something there that I hadn’t seen in a long time. Smiles. Not just ‘yay we’re scoring’ smiles or ‘we’ve found our groove’ smiles but ‘we’re having fun’ smiles. It’s been a long time since this team really looked like they were having fun on the field. It was lost somewhere in 2007 long before “the collapse”. It was good to see it again. Let’s hope they don’t lose it.
*I’m not really a pessimistic fan. Once the games starts I always believe there are going to win. Even in some situations when I should throw in the towel. I think the pessimism just comes natural when you’ve been a fan for so long.
